Common Ground Child Care Center, located at 1700 Wainwright Drive in Reston, Virginia near Reston Town Center, is a not-for-profit corporation. The Center was started in 1972 by the Common Ground Foundation, an organization created to provide solutions for the needs of the community of Reston. The Center's goal is to provide high-quality child care to all segments of the community. Although day to day operations are handled by the Director, Common Ground Child Care has an all volunteer Board of Trustees whose members are ultimately responsible for all aspects of the center. They're entrusted with making sure that management decisions are in the best interest of the centers staff and children and that the original ideals under which the center was founded are upheld.
Common Ground Child Care Center is a member of the Reston Child Development Council. We are state-licensed for 120 children but we try to keep enrollment at 88 or less. We have year-round child-care programs for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years. Before- and after-school programs and summer camp are provided for elementary school children. A part-time preschool program is also offered. Common Ground is open to all families and does not discriminate in its hiring practices or its acceptance of children on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnic origin, disability, or religious preference.
