School-Age Program
Children attending area Reston public elementary schools may attend Common Ground before and/or after school. Note: On snow days, school breaks, and Fairfax County Public School teacher work days, school-age children can come to Common Ground for the entire day. Children will need to bring a sack lunch, but breakfast and snacks will be provided. Field trips are planned in the metropolitan area. These trips may include visits to museums and to historical and scientific sites.
Children in the school-age program do homework, work on arts-and-crafts projects, learn about cooking, play with games and blocks, do dramatic play, and engage in sports and other outdoor play. Teachers help the children learn to respect themselves and others and to use negotiation to solve interpersonal problems.
