Children in our preschool room learn through play and hands-on activities in a relaxed, safe, and caring atmosphere. Our teachers use Preschool First in this classroom, which features a play-based curriculum and an online assessment resource to track each child’s individual development. We provide a wide variety of activities, including number and letter projects, science, cooking, stories, dramatic play, blocks, arts-and-crafts projects, music, and field trips. These activities help foster the development of creativity, imagination, coordination, fine motor skills, and music appreciation in our children.
We encourage children to develop gross motor skills through outdoor play. Field trips are expanded for this age group to include playgrounds, farms, and businesses, as well as community sites such as the library and post office. In the summer, children in this room have ample opportunities to explore water properties (and have a blast) through water play using water tables and age appropriate splash “pools.”
