Ratio Waiver (expired on June 30, 2022)

The Virginia Department of Education has allowed child care providers to apply for higher ratios to help ease staffing requirements and continue to allow for classroom cohorts without mixing children from different groups.

Common Ground maintains classroom cohorts from 8am to 5:30pm. Extended care hours of 7:30-8am and 5:30-6pm are combined.

We are staffed to be well under the state ratios from 8:30am until 4:30pm, but during morning drop off and evening pick up hours, we wanted the flexibility of the expanded ratios. This is our notice to you that we have been granted the expanded ratio waiver from the state and plan to use those expanded ratios on an “as needed” basis:
